This is a currently operating Super Kmart Center store at 9200 Mentor Avenue in Mentor, Ohio. At 195,529 square feet this is the second largest Super Kmart. This store is just barely smaller than the Lorain, Ohio Super Kmart store which is 195,665 square feet. This store is very nice inside. I noticed this store has better space management than it's twin in Lorain. In Lorain some of the front service areas and the auto center are vacant. Here at this store they have all the service areas up front filled and the former Auto Center is home to a RadAir service center. The front of the store was filled with various places like Indians and Browns team shops. Also there is a bike shop in the old Florist area, in Lorain the old Florist became a Little Caesar's (which instantly became a hit). I feel the store would do better in Mentor if it received a Little Caesar's Pizza Station and improved curb appeal. The grocery section was not updated like the one in Lorain, but I overheard plans for a remodel when I was on my visit there. I heard details such as updated signage and new equipment for the produce section in the conversation between the Manager and another employee. The grocery section here looked like how the one in Lorain used to look, but the Seafood section was closed off by shelves. The Super Kmart Cafe signage was still in place, but it was evident the Cafe was not used in years. the Cafe was similar to the Kmart Cafe that was inside the store in Lorain, but did not have part of the dining area elevated. Overall I was impressed with this store and am likely to return if I am close by again. During this visit I had an extreme time crunch and could not stay long enough to get more photos. Please share any memories or more information about this store below.
These pictures are how the Super Kmart in Mentor was as of February 16th, 2012.
